GMGZJA Future Tour
***STOP PRESS – The GMGZJA Presentation Lunch is on at Caboolture Golf Club on 17 November. See the events calendar for all the details.***
The Glasshouse Mountains Golf Zone Junior Association (GMGZJA), with the support and assistance of the participating Golf Clubs, delivers a program of golf events for juniors known as the “Future Tour”.
The 2019 season of the Future Tour is now finished but will be back bigger and better in 2020. The Tour events are open to all boys and girls aged between 5 and 17 years old who have reached a minimum standard of golf skill to enable them to enjoy playing 3 or more holes of golf.
Ideally, children should be of a standard that enables them to make regular contact with the ball (not too many “airswings”) and have a basic understanding of the safety aspects of golf (e.g.not walking close to or in front of other players making a swing). All players under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
At this time competitions are offered in the following divisions: 3 holes (short), 6 holes (short), 9 holes and 18 holes. While all 18 hole event players must have official GA handicaps, players in the other divisions do not require official handicaps and will be handicapped based on the Future Tour rules.
2019 Season Calendar and entry forms
This year the Future Tour is being held across 10 Golf Clubs on Sundays from 31 March to 20 October 2019. The Clubs hosting events are: Laidley, Woodford, Pine Rivers, Ashgrove, Bribie Island, Maleny, Beerwah, Pelican Waters, Caboolture and Wantima.
The full list of Future Tour Event dates and course 2019 is available here. Online entry for the next event is available in the Events Calendar and the tee times (draw) for the events are published in the same place, usually on the Friday evening prior to the event.
